The Domaine & Spa du Hirtz: a venue committed to ecotourism and respect for the environment
Set in magnificent, harmonious natural surroundings, the Domaine & Spa du Hirtz is committed to preserving and showcasing them. Since it was founded in 2015, it has carried out many initiatives that put this conviction into practice every day.
The Clef Verte label, the Accueil Vélo label: through these initiatives, ecotourism and, more broadly, ecology are the main pillars of the Domaine & Spa du Hirtz’s hospitality mission.
Awarded since 2021, the Clef Verte label covers no fewer than 120 mandatory and recommended criteria. Across seven themes, it covers every aspect of an establishment’s activity: water, waste and energy management, guest awareness, etc.
A multifaceted approach
Waste sorting in the kitchen, rooms and offices; installation of a wood-fired boiler and solar panels on the roof; plans to install water meters in the rooms and lodges, with a visual system allowing guests to measure their consumption and take part in a challenge where they can earn points; use of eco-certified products for cleaning; raising staff and guest awareness of eco-friendly practices; use of local, seasonal produce for the restaurant…
Practical and part of everyday life, these initiatives are just some of the many actions carried out within the establishment and overseen by a dedicated Quality Manager.
Taking time and immersing yourself in nature
Beyond the establishment itself, ecotourism also concerns its relationship with the surrounding nature, through the art of travel known as slow tourism. Guests are invited to take their time to observe the local wildlife and plants, building a calm and soothing relationship with a rich biodiversity.
